Cape Verde's immigration system provides several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by permit type.
- Foreign nationals who intend to conduct business activities require a Tourist Visa valid for 30 days (renewable up to 90 days) or a Temporary Visa for stays up to 180 days.
- For short-term work assignments in professional activities (artists, athletes, technicians, teachers, or in other qualified roles under contract with Cape Verdean public or private entities), a Temporary Visa may be granted for up to one year. Foreign nationals must provide proof of the intended purpose of the trip, a valid passport, and proof of sufficient funds (such as bank statements, cash, or credit cards) for the trip. Processing times vary but are generally between 10-15 days.
- For long-term work assignments (subordinate professional activity or service-level agreement), foreign nationals require a Work Visa valid for six months (renewable or until the residence permit application is approved). Alternatively, foreign nationals may require a Work and Residence Permit for assignments in subordinate, independent, highly qualified roles or investment/economic activity for one to two years (renewable).
