About Tunisia
Whether your company is sending employees to Tunisia or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- Tunisian immigration law provides limited options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
- Tunisia typically issues single-entry business visas for business visits of up to 90 consecutive days or 180 cumulative days.
- Foreign nationals seeking to engage in business-related activities for more than 90 days must generally obtain a work permit. Work permits are typically valid for up to one year, renewable, and are limited to certain categories. Employers intending to hire foreign nationals who do not fall within these categories must perform a labor market test and obtain a certificate from the Regional Employment Office confirming there is no qualified Tunisian candidate to fill the position.
- Some foreign nationals, such as investors or directors, are exempt from obtaining a work permit but still subject to a formal process by applying for non-submission of a work permit. For this process, they must provide corporate documents to support their eligibility for this ''exemption."
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
