• The immigration laws of Barbados provide several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
• Visa-exempt nationals may receive a business entry authorization upon arrival, while visa nationals must obtain a single- or multiple-Entry Visa before travel. However, any foreign national entering Barbados to conduct business activities - even if permissible under business visitor status - for a period exceeding seven days, or to perform any work activities, requires a work permit.
• There are two main types of Work Permits in Barbados: Short-Term Work Permit, granted for up to 11 months; and Long-Term Work Permit, granted for up to three years. The Long-Term Work Permit requires the prospective employer in Barbados to sufficiently prove that no resident or Barbadian national is qualified and willing to fulfill the requirements of the position offered to the foreign national.
