- The immigration laws of Barbados provide several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
- Visa-exempt nationals may receive a business entry authorization upon arrival, while visa nationals must obtain a single- or multiple-Entry Visa before travel. However, any foreign national entering Barbados to conduct business activities - even if permissible under business visitor status - for a period exceeding seven days, or to perform any work activities, requires a work permit.
- There are two main types of work permits in Barbados: The Short-Term Work Permit, granted for up to 11 months; and the Long-Term Work Permit, granted initially for up to three years (and extendable for up to five years). The Long-Term Work Permit requires the prospective employer in Barbados to sufficiently prove that no Barbadian national or resident is qualified and willing to fulfill the requirements of the position offered to the foreign national.
- Barbados also offers a visa for remote workers. The 12-Month Welcome Stamp allows foreign nationals to relocate to and work remotely from Barbados for up to 12 months initially, provided they have the means to support themselves and their family during their stay. The visa does not allow employment in Barbados.
