About Brunei
Whether your company is sending employees to Brunei or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
Brunei's immigration system provides several options to employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
- Foreign nationals who intend to perform business-related activities for a short period can generally use the Professional Visit Visa (PVV), valid for up to three months. They must secure PVV approval before they enter Brunei.
- Foreign nationals may enter Brunei on a consular entry visa, visa-on-arrival, or without a visa if they hold a passport from an eligible country. Other nationals may be eligible for a visa-on-arrival at the discretion of immigration authorities.
- All foreign nationals require work authorization to work in Brunei. The standard work authorization is the Employment Pass (EP), which is typically valid for two years, subject to approval by the Prime Minister's Office, Labor Department, and Immigration Department. For assignments or employment of up to six months, foreign nationals can apply for the Special Authorisation Work Pass.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
