About Suriname

Whether your company is sending employees to Suriname or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Suriname's immigration system provides several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
  • Foreign nationals require a Business E-Visa to conduct business activities in Suriname, limited to attending business meetings. Business E-Visas are typically issued for up to five years with multiple entries. The initial stay is 30 days per visit, extendable to 90 days.
  • A Short Stay Visa (MKV) allows single-entry work for up to three months and requires company sponsorship.
  • The most common type of work authorization used by employers in Suriname is the Work Permit and Stay Permit. A registered company in Suriname must sponsor the Work Permit and act as a guarantor for the foreign national during the foreign national's employment in Suriname. Work Permits, typically valid for one year, do not grant residency, so those staying over 90 days also need a Stay Permit, initially valid for two years.

Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
