About Ukraine

Whether your company is sending employees to Ukraine or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Ukraine, several options are available.

  • Business Visits: As a business visitor, depending on your citizenship, you will need to secure a C visa for a short-term stay. C visas usually permit single, double, or multiple entries. They are granted for six months or a duration corresponding to the intended visit but no longer than five years. As a business visitor, you must limit your stay to 90 days in a 180-day period. You may apply for an exceptional extension of stay for a total stay of six months calculated from the initial entry if you can show compelling reasons and evidence of sufficient funds.
  • Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are the Work/Temporary Residence Permit for when the host entity is a Ukrainian company or the Temporary Residence Permit for when the host entity is a Ukraine-based representative office of a foreign company. Work Permits can be issued between one and three years, depending on the position, education, and salary of the foreign national, and can be renewed.
  • Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category.
  • Self-employment: If you intend to invest in Ukraine, the residence-by-investment program may be an option. This program is available to foreign nationals who will make an equity investment of at least EUR 100,000 in a locally registered company.

NOTE: Ukraine is currently under martial law. Travel in and out of the country and immigration processes continue to be disrupted. For additional information, refer to https://www.fragomen.com/trending/ukraine-russia-crisis-what-you-need-to-know.html and consult an immigration professional for individual guidance.

Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
