- Azerbaijan's laws provide several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
- A Business Visa is suitable for business visitors. It usually allows single or multiple entries, with various periods of authorized stay, depending on the applicant’s nationality and at the authorities' discretion. Work permit exemptions for up to 90 days are available for work in certain industries (including information and communication, finance and insurance, and power, gas, steam, and artificial atmosphere supply industries) and (deputy) directors. Foreign nationals who are work permit-exempt still typically require an entry visa (unless they are visa-exempt) and registration with the State Migration Service.
- Foreign nationals seeking to work in Azerbaijan for a longer duration or beyond the scope of the exemptions must obtain a Work and Temporary Residence Permit, issued for one year or the duration of the employment period, whichever is shorter.
- Foreign nationals seeking to work in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan are issued work permits for 2 years (rule applies until January 1, 2028).
