The Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Pakistan)'s immigration system provides a couple of options for employers of foreign nationals. Pakistan currently has a privatization program for government corporations that aims to attract foreign investment. Major sectors of the economy include agriculture, mining, and industry (IT, construction, textiles, and others).

Foreign nationals traveling for business can obtain a five-year Business Visa through a Pakistani consular post provided they are citizens of one of the countries on the "List of Business-Friendly Countries" (BVL). The maximum allowable stay is three months per entry. Alternatively, nationals of the BVL countries can obtain a 30-day visa-on-arrival in Pakistan, subject to holding a recommendation or invitation letter from an approved authority in Pakistan.

Foreign nationals entering Pakistan for more than 90 days, or those seeking employment, must obtain a work authorization - Work Visa. Work visas are granted for up to one year with a possibility of extension.
