About Bermuda
Whether your company is sending employees to Bermuda or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- The immigration law of Bermuda provides several options for foreign nationals seeking to work in the country. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by work permit classification.
- Business Visitors may stay in Bermuda for up to 21 days per visit, with discretionary in-country extensions for a maximum of 21 additional days. All travelers seeking entry to Bermuda must hold a passport valid for at least 45 days beyond the period of intended stay or the validity of their work permit.
- Foreign nationals conducting activities outside of the prescribed list of business activities must obtain a work permit, such as a Short-Term Permit valid for up to six months or a Periodic Permit for stays of up to 30 days per visit and up to 180 days per a 12 month period. Companies in Bermuda may use the Standard Work Permit, valid from one to five years, to employ foreign nationals, provided they can demonstrate that a Bermudian, spouse of a Bermudian, or a permanent resident is not suitably qualified or available for hire.
- Bermuda also offers residence authorization for remote workers. The One Year Residential Certificate allows foreign nationals employed by or who own a company operating outside of Bermuda to reside in and work remotely from Bermuda, provided they can demonstrate sufficient means or continuous source of income to support themselves and their family during their stay. This visa does not allow gainful employment in Bermuda.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
