- Jordan's immigration system provides several options for employers of foreign nationals. There are over a dozen free zones and special economic zones dedicated to various fields of business and industries (mostly apparel-manufacturing factories), which offer investors a lower income tax rate or tax exemptions.
- Business travelers require a visit visa issued by a Jordanian consular post unless they are eligible for visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival. The maximum allowable duration of stay depends on the traveler's nationality. In-country extensions of stay are permissible.
- Foreign nationals who require work authorization may enter Jordan as visitors and apply for a work permit and residence post arrival. The employer in Jordan may also apply for a foreign national's work permit while the applicant is outside of the country. Work permits are typically granted for one year and may be renewed annually, at the discretion of labor and immigration authorities. A work permit for individuals with specialized skills can be issued for three or six months with the option to renew. Temporary Work Permits may be issued for six months but cannot be renewed. Foreign nationals applying for a work permit must complete a medical examination. All foreign nationals must be subscribed to the Social Security Corporation (SSC) under the SSC account of the sponsoring entity in Jordan before they can be issued a work permit.
