About Moldova

Whether your company is sending employees to Moldova or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Moldovan law provides many solutions to help employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
  • Business visitors to Moldova require a Business Visa, unless they are visa exempt based on their nationality. Visa applications from select countries must obtain an invitation from the Migration Bureau procured by their host to secure a visa. The maximum consecutive stay as a business visitor is 90 days in a six-month period. Business visitors may only conduct activities permissible in business visa status.
  • The main work authorization category is the Temporary Residence Permit for Work Purposes, which can be obtained in the country after labor market testing and entry with a suitable long-term visa. The permit is available for a wide range of applicants, is typically issued for one year initially, and is renewable.
  • Moldova also offers a Digital Nomad temporary stay permit for foreign nationals seeking to work remotely from Moldova without local company sponsorship for up to two years initially (renewal possible). This permit is subject to financial and documentary conditions including demonstration of continuous performance of remote activities throughout the entire duration.

Moldova has various work permit exemptions based on activity and nationality.

Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
