About Niger

Whether your company is sending employees to Niger or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Niger's immigration system provides several options for employers of foreign nationals, including investors.
  • Business visitors can obtain a single- or multiple-entry visa (allowing a stay of one, or three to six months) from a Nigerien consular post in their country of residence. To secure an entry visa, applicants must provide supporting documentation, such as a letter of invitation outlining a legitimate business purpose. A single-entry visa permits only one entry and allows the holder to stay for no more than 30 days during that visit. In contrast, a multiple-entry visa allows the holder to enter and exit the country multiple times within the 90-day validity period, with each stay potentially exceeding 30 days, as long as it complies with the overall visa conditions and local immigration regulations. Foreign nationals wishing to extend their stay may apply for a visa extension or transition to a work permit.
  • For activities requiring work authorization, foreign nationals must first enter Niger on an entry visa and subsequently apply for work authorization through the Ministry of Employment. The work authorization application must be in the form of a formal request to the Minister of Labour and Employment, along with proof of employment (e.g., an employment contract) and the foreign national's relevant qualifications. Depending on the nature of the assignment, a short-term work visa (temporary permit) or a long-term work visa (valid for up to one year) may be issued.

Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
