Albanian law provides many solutions to help employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility, and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.

Business visitors to Albania typically use a Short-Stay Visa, which allows stays in Albania for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

The main work authorization option is the Work Permit - Type A. The permit can be granted for an initial validity of up to one year. Indefinite extensions are available with no limitation on cumulative duration, but usually extend for the duration of the assignment, up to two years at a time. After five years of consecutive legal stay, foreign nationals can obtain a permanent Work Permit.

Note that a work permit is cancelled if the foreign national is not present in Albania for six consecutive months, with limited exceptions.

A Work Permit Exemption and Residence Permit is available for EU nationals planning to work in Albania for more than 90 days in a 180-day period.
