Macau's law provides limited solutions for employers of foreign nationals.

Eligible business visitors can enter Macau without a visa, with stay validities between 14 days to one year.  Visa nationals must obtain a visa prior to entering Macau or apply for one on arrival (depending on nationality).

Foreign nationals must obtain a Work Permit and a temporary residence authorization called a Non-Resident Worker's Identification Card (Blue Card) to work in Macau.  The Work Permit can be granted with a validity of up to 24 months at the discretion of the government authority.  The Blue Card has a validity period that is either coterminous with the work visa or 30 days prior to the expiration date of the foreign national's travel document (whichever is shorter).

Note that there are no clear guidelines for immigration officers to follow when making work authorization decisions - the decision process is highly discretionary.

Detailed Immigration Snapshots, Document Lists and Process Guides are available to clients on request.
