About Belarus
Whether your company is sending employees to Belarus or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- Belarus' immigration system provides limited options for employers of foreign nationals; generally, a work permit is required. Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Although EAEU nationals are work permit-exempt, they must have either a local employment contract or a civil work agreement to benefit from the exemption.
- Business visitors to Belarus who are not visa-exempt based on their citizenship use the Short-Term Visa C, valid for up to 90 calendar days, or the Long-Term Visa D, generally issued with a validity of up to one year. Regardless of their visa type, business visitors' stay is generally limited to 90 cumulative days per year, calculated from their first entry date into Belarus. Visas can be obtained at a consular post or on arrival at Minsk National Airport for eligible applicants.
- The primary work authorization category is the Special Work Permit, suitable for locally hired staff, combined with a Temporary Residence Permit. The Special Work Permit can be issued for one year or two years for highly qualified employees. One-time extensions are available.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
