About El Salvador
Whether your company is sending employees to El Salvador or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- El Salvador's immigration laws provide several options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by permit type.
- Depending on their country of citizenship, visa nationals require either a consular or a consulted visa or a Special Entry Permit to enter El Salvador for business purposes. Visas for business, investment, or trade purposes are issued for a single entry or up to two years for multiple entries and allow an initial stay of up to 180 days at the discretion of immigration authorities. Special Entry Permits are issued for a single entry, allowing a stay of up to 180 days. Visa-exempt nationals can enter El Salvador for business for up to 180 days without a visa.
- Visa-exempt nationals who travel frequently to El Salvador for business can apply for a Frequent Traveler Card in the country. This card can be issued for up to three years and allows multiple entries for up to 90 days of stay on each entry. Frequent Traveler Card holders do not require a visa to enter El Salvador and do not need to pay a tourist card fee on each entry.
- All foreign nationals seeking to work in El Salvador must obtain a Work Permit and a Temporary Residence Permit in the country. The Work Permit and Temporary Residence Permit are valid for an initial period of one or two years and can be extended.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
