- The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority grants a Visit Pass to most foreign nationals when they arrive in Singapore for both tourist and business purposes. Visitors (regardless of the purpose of the trip) from visa-required countries must still obtain an entry visa before travel.
- Singapore permits limited business activities for visitors. Business visitors on a Visit Pass must limit their activities to attending business meetings and discussions.
- Foreign nationals should obtain work authorisation/work pass even for short-term visits. Company-sponsored work pass categories include the Employment Pass for skilled professionals, the S Pass for skilled workers, and Work Permits for semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
- The Employment Pass and the S Pass processes are subject to labour market testing, including advertising requirements and fair consideration of suitable local applicants before a foreign national is selected for a role or assignment, with some exceptions.
