About Zimbabwe

Whether your company is sending employees to Zimbabwe or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Zimbabwe's immigration system provides many options for employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by permit type.
  • Foreign nationals intending to conduct business activities in Zimbabwe must obtain a business visitor visa permit, which is typically valid for up to 30 days and may be renewed for an additional seven days after expiry. The processing time for a business visitor visa ranges from seven days to three months, and it can be applied for online in advance before traveling to Zimbabwe.
  • Foreign nationals seeking to engage in active, productive work in Zimbabwe are required to obtain a Temporary Employment Permit (TEP). This permit must be applied for and processed prior to entry into Zimbabwe. A TEP is generally valid for up to two years and must be renewed at least three months before its expiry. Renewals or extensions are permitted, provided the employee's total stay does not exceed five years. Additionally, a foreign national's dependents may accompany the TEP holder during the permit holder's employment period. If an employee is already in Zimbabwe, the Immigration Authority may grant a TEP for a shorter period of two months, depending on the circumstances. In such a case, the TEP holder must also obtain approval for their accompanying dependents for the same period. It is important to note that TEPs are typically issued for roles requiring skills not readily available within the country.
