There are certain important factors that an employer must take into account when considering mobility requirements in this country.

• EU/EEA nationals who were residents in the United Kingdom on or before December 31, 2020 and wish to remain in the United Kingdom after January 1, 2021 can apply for Settled or Pre-Settled status until 30 June 2021.
• UK companies need a Sponsor Licence to sponsor foreign workers. Sponsor Licence applications are complex and lengthy and require renewal every four years.
• Government filing fees to obtain a UK visa are high, including annual health and skills surcharges.
• Certain applications require criminal record certificates from every country where the applicant stayed for 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total), while aged 18 or over, in the 10 years before the application date. Criminal record certificates must be issued by the relevant authority in each country.
• Renewal applicants cannot travel outside the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands while their application is pending without jeopardizing their renewal application.
