About Equatorial Guinea
Whether your company is sending employees to Equatorial Guinea or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- Equatorial Guinea's immigration system provides limited options for employers of foreign nationals.
- Equatorial Guinea is a member of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). The Ministry of Security, Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion, and National Centre for Issuing Official Documents (CENEDOGE) are responsible for immigration matters, including visas on arrival and permanent residence issuance.
- Eligible business visitors may obtain a pre-approved visa on arrival by submitting an online application on the Ministry of Security's portal - https://equatorialguinea-evisa.com/. The visa on arrival allows a stay of up to one month. If a foreign national seeks to extend their stay after one month, they must apply for a 'Permanencia,' which grants work authorization for up to six months. Additionally, they apply for a 12-month multiple-entry visa, which allows them to reside in and travel in and out of the country for the duration of the visa. The 'Permanencia' and the multiple-entry visa are obtained while the foreign national is in Equatorial Guinea, as the original passport is required for the application. Renewals are also processed in the country.
- Before a Work Permit can be issued, foreign nationals must submit a request to the Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion to obtain an 'Authorization of Recruitment' to work longer than six months in the country. The Work Permit is valid for 12 months and may be renewed if the business requires the foreign national to remain on an extended work assignment.
