The Bahamas Immigration Services

​• Bahamian law provides short- and long-term options to help employers of foreign nationals. Requirements, processing times, and employment eligibility vary by work permit classification.
 
• Business visitor status is generally limited to visits of less than two weeks to conduct business/client meetings where there is no financial gain. Business visitors must send a notice to the Department of Immigration or the Airport Superintendent of Immigration in the Bahamas 72 hours before travel.
 
• Short-term workers planning to engage in gainful occupation (i.e. employment) in the Bahamas require a Short-Term Work Permit, generally issued for up to 30 days and extendable for a maximum consecutive stay of 90 days. Foreign nationals who intend to work in the Bahamas beyond 90 days must obtain a Long-Term Work Permit which allows stays of up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely.
 
• ​The Bahamas also offers the Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay (BEATS) permit, which allows professionals and students to work and study remotely​/online from the Bahamas for up to one year (extendable for up to three years).​
